WHO WE ARE – SEMI & THE SEMI FOUNDATION
The SEMI Foundation is a nonprofit, public benefit arm of SEMI, the broadest tech-focused global industry association in the world. SEMI represents the electronics manufacturing and design supply chain, connecting over 2,600 member companies and 1.3 million professionals worldwide. Through its programs, communities, initiatives, market research, and advocacy, SEMI informs and coordinates its members and the industry, cultivates collaboration, drives action, and synchronizes innovation to speed business results.
The SEMI Foundation supports workforce development and diversity, equity, and inclusion in the semiconductor industry. We are responding to the industry’s significant workforce deficits by expanding and diversifying the talent pool. Our work creates pathways for historically excluded people of color, veterans, women, students of all ages, and others to learn about, join, and thrive in this sector, which benefits workers, their communities, our member companies, the industry, and the economy.
OUR FOCUS
The SEMI Foundation takes an employer-led, worker-centric, holistic approach to workforce development. Our work supports pathways for both future and current talent to find their career and purpose in the microelectronics industry. From grade school awareness initiatives to programs that help veterans transition to industry jobs to reskilling and upskilling training for incumbent workers, we help people from all walks of life find their futures in the exciting world of chips.
We focus on creating pathways and access for people who are underrepresented and have been historically excluded from the industry. By welcoming new populations into the semiconductor workforce, we connect them to stable, well-paying jobs, which improve their lives and communities.
