This Black History Month, the SEMI Career & Apprenticeship Network (SCAN) Michigan honors the contributions made by trailblazers like George Washington Carver.
Born into slavery, Carver became the first Black student at Iowa State University and later was the first African American to earn a Bachelor of Science degree. He continued his education at Iowa State, where he earned his Master of Science degree, before becoming the school’s first African American faculty member. Carver’s innovation continues to inspire those in the STEM field and beyond.
At SCAN Michigan, we celebrate the advances made by leaders like George Washington Carver and seek to create training and educational opportunities that make a career in the semiconductor industry accessible to all.
#FunFactFriday: The top in-demand semiconductor careers in 2024 were Semiconductor Process Engineer, Device Development Engineer, and Semiconductor Test Engineer (source: Hunter International Recruiting).
